Privacy Policy

NorgeStart ("we") provides a web and iOS application that helps newcomers to Norway understand official letters, payslips and Norwegian bureaucracy. Contact: post@norgestart.com.

NorgeStart does not use accounts. The app generates a random device identifier stored only on your device. It contains no personal information and is used solely to count free-tier usage and store Premium status. Your settings, scan history, plan and deadlines are stored locally on your device.

When you use the letter interpreter, payslip audit, chat or reply-drafting features, the text of your document is transmitted over an encrypted connection to our server and passed to third-party AI language-processing providers to generate the analysis. Document contents are processed transiently to produce your result and are not stored permanently on our servers. The analysis result is saved only on your own device. Do not submit documents containing information you are not permitted to share; you may black out personal numbers before scanning.

For statistics, security and abuse prevention we log: IP address, browser/device type, screen size, app language, country (derived from IP), and which features are used (for example "a document was analysed" — never its content). Log data is retained for up to 12 months.

Premium purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy as merchant of record. We never see or store your card details. See the Lemon Squeezy privacy policy.

If you contact us, we receive the e-mail address and message you provide, kept in our mailbox for as long as needed to help you.

Deadline reminders are scheduled locally on your device with your permission. Your deadlines are not sent to our servers by the reminder feature.

Under the GDPR you may request access to or deletion of data associated with your device identifier or e-mail address — write to post@norgestart.com. You can also erase all local data at any time by clearing the app/site data on your device. We do not sell personal data and do not use advertising trackers.
