We aim to verify every changing figure — tax rates, fees, deadlines, minimum wages, benefit amounts — against the responsible authority's own published page before we publish it, and to link that source on the guide itself. That is the standard we work to. It is not a guarantee: the corrections log below records the times we have fallen short of it, and it is there so you can judge the process rather than take our word for it.

We use AI to help draft the text and to translate it into nine languages. Before publication the numbers are checked against the source, and every translation is checked automatically to confirm the language pack is actually written in that language. Where something cannot be verified, we leave it out rather than guess.

A guide that has been through that check carries the date of it. A guide with no review date has not yet been through it — treat its numbers with extra care. Errors still occur despite the process, and when they are found they are fixed in all nine languages and written up below with the date and the source.

We are not lawyers, accountants or caseworkers, and nothing here is advice about your individual case. Rules change, and practice varies between municipalities and case officers. Always confirm anything important with the responsible authority before you act.

The AI assistant answers from the same official sources, but it cannot know your circumstances. Treat it as a well-informed starting point rather than the final word.

• 2 August 2026 — a second external audit found more, all now fixed. The Swedish pages said our AI answers from “officiella svenska källor” — official Swedish sources. This site is about Norway and the sources are Norwegian; corrected to “norska källor”. Dr. Dropin, a private clinic, was listed under “Official sources” beside Helsenorge and NAV; commercial services are now listed separately and labelled as such. Source links read “Statens vegvesen — licences” in English on translated pages; the organisation names stay, the descriptions are now translated. The calculator pages carried an English footer while the guides beside them were translated — one site, two templates, now one. The immigration summary card opened “No residence permit needed” without saying that this is the EU/EEA rule, which a non-EU reader scanning the hub could badly misread. And our own driving summary said licences from most countries can be exchanged within a year — Statens vegvesen only allows exchange from certain listed countries; everyone else drives on their own licence for three months and then takes the Norwegian licence from scratch. The Arabic language option used the Syrian flag; Arabic is spoken across many countries, so it no longer carries any national flag.
• 2 August 2026 — an external reviewer found six further errors, all now fixed. The BankID step said “BankID on mobile”, a retired SIM-based product — most people now use the BankID app, and opening an account does not by itself guarantee BankID. The D-number page said you cannot “get a doctor” without one; correctly, most people holding only a D-number are not entitled to a fastlege but are still entitled to necessary healthcare, which the municipality must provide. Danske Bank was listed as a bank for newcomers, but it left the Norwegian personal market and moved its personal customers to Nordea at the end of 2024 — the guide now points to Finansportalen and to what actually matters (D-number accepted, BankID issued, English service). The study guide gave the semester fee as both 600–700 kr and 1 000 kr; each samskipnad sets its own, so no national figure is given. The tourist fishing export quota was 18 kg; since 1 January 2026 it is 15 kg, twice a year, only from a registered business, dropping to 10 kg in 2027. And the law guide said public-drinking “enforcement is mild” with a ~3 000 kr fine, and that a knife in a rucksack “= fine” — subjective, municipality-dependent and risky to rely on; both are now stated as the actual legal test. • 2 August 2026 — the app's salary estimator was labelled “Approximate — 2025 rates” while the same page said the calculator used 2026 rates. The 2026 label was correct; the 2025 one was a stale hard-coded fallback that had not been updated with the translated text. There is now a build check that fails if any on-page fallback disagrees with the translated string it belongs to.
• 2 August 2026 — the permanent residence section was wrong on three points and silent on a fourth, after a reader questioned it. It said the Norwegian language requirement was “A1/A2+”; since 1 September 2025 the requirement to complete courses was removed and you must instead pass an oral Norwegian test at level A2 and a social studies test in a language you understand (A1 applies only if your police appointment was before that date). The three- and five-year tracks are now stated by permit type rather than as “some permits 5”. The self-support requirement — 341 373 kr before tax earned by you over the last twelve months, ages 18–67 — was missing entirely, and it is the requirement applicants most often fall down on. “No recent criminal record” was replaced with the actual rule, a quarantine period whose length depends on the sentence. The citizenship line now says 8 of the last 11 years and names the B1 oral test. Source: UDI.
• 2 August 2026 — the PAYE income ceiling was stated as roughly 670 000 kr, which was the 2025 figure. The 2026 ceiling is 725 050 kr. Corrected in all nine languages. Source: Skatteetaten.
• 2 August 2026 — several translated sections were found to contain Norwegian text rather than the target language. All were re-translated, and an automatic language check now runs before every publication.
• 31 July 2026 — the barnehage maximum price was stated as about 2 000 kr a month, a figure from an earlier year. The 2026 cap is 1 200 kr (700 kr in municipalities with a low centrality index, free in the northern action zone). Source: Udir and regjeringen.no.
• 31 July 2026 — national insurance contribution corrected from 7,7% to 7,6%, the top bracket-tax rate from 17,7% to 17,8%, and all bracket-tax thresholds updated to the 2026 figures. Source: Skatteetaten.
